Jose Alcala

 

Education has been a lifelong career and passion for Jose Alcala. He became a teacher in order to “give back and help students just as my teachers had helped me.” Since 2003, he has taught history in the Moreno Valley Unified School District, and is currently a teacher at March Mountain High School. A graduate of Riverside City College, Alcala attended the University of California, Santa Barbara graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 2000. Two years later, he completed teacher preparation coursework at California State University, San Bernardino.

After beginning his career in education, Alcala became increasingly active in his community. He served on the Board of Directors for the California Teachers Association representing teachers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. He also serves as President of the Riverside City Public Library Board of Trustees.

Alcala, whose mother and sister also graduated from Riverside City College, is married and has a daughter, Kennedy. His wife, Ashley, is a teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District.
