RCCD Global Learning & Study Abroad
Bringing the World Within Reach for RCCD
Why Study Abroad?
- It builds personal and interpersonal skills. Study abroad challenges us to discover new skills for intercultural communication. People who have studied abroad grow their empathy and respect for others!
- It provides career and professional readiness. Students who study or intern abroad have communication skills, confidence, and flexibility that employers desire!
- It counts toward your degree progress. In most cases, studying abroad on official RCCD programs will involve taking an RCCD class or getting RCCD credit for your educational path.
- It adds value. Studies show that students who study abroad tend to have higher GPAs, higher completion and graduation rates, and higher income in their first jobs after graduation!
- It’s affordable. The cost of living in most locations is similar to or lower than the cost of living in Southern California. And, there are many scholarships available to keep costs down. Please do not rule out the possibility until you talk to us to explore options for paying the extra costs associated with Study Abroad.
- It’s educational. Whether or not course content explicitly teaches you about all aspects of the country where you are studying or interning, living abroad, even for a short time, grow your curiousity and knowledge about the country you are visiting.
- It’s fun!

One RCCD Study Abroad student alum notes:
“This program provided me with my first experience outside of the United States. I
grew up in a home with little money and limited experiences. This study abroad program
opened my mind and my heart to the world. It inspired me to dream big and to be a
good steward. The imprints left from this experience run deep and have had lasting
effects on a micro and macro level. Through this program I gained better self-awareness
and confidence and also developed a deep sense of global community and oneness.”
