Norco College Celebrates Veterans Resource Center Groundbreaking with a Commemorative Video

In honor of Veterans Day and Military Family Appreciation Month, Norco College is excited to announce the groundbreaking of the new Veterans Resource Center (VRC) through this commemorative video. The partnerships that made this project possible are captured in the video as we continue to build excitement and momentum for the grand opening slated for Fall 2021.

State and City elected officials from Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Norco and Riverside, were among the many partners who graciously participated in the video production. See the list of participants below.

The new VRC will expand and enhance programs and services to student veterans transitioning into civilian life by offering college credit for previous military service, counseling, mental health services, and access to community and veterans resources.

The 4.3 million dollar single-story VRC will consist of 2,000 square feet and will include a welcome area with five office spaces, a lounge and restroom facilities, a dedicated parking lot, and an outdoor shaded patio area.

“Thank you to our wonderful partners that came together in a safe and socially distanced way to create this video,” said President Monica Green. “We are committed to continuing our exceptional support and look forward to celebrating and serving our veterans in the new Norco College Veterans Resource Center in Fall 2021.”

The current Veterans Resource Center serves over 500 students from the armed services. The VRC staff provides veterans with a supportive environment to assist with financial aid, GI Bill, counseling, academic support, camaraderie, and more. The Military Times has identified Norco College as a top 20 college for supporting veterans five times out of the last six years, one of only two California community colleges to make the ranking.

The project is made possible through a combination of college general fund monies and State of California allocations totaling 3 million dollars from the 2017-18 and the 2019-2020 budget, championed by California Assembly member Sabrina Cervantes and State Senator Richard Roth.

Construction and architect partners include Ruhnau Clarke Architects, Kitchell Corporation and Rasmussen Brothers Construction, Inc.
