RCCD Expands Digital Access by Joining eduroam Wireless Network
06/08/2026

Riverside Community College District is strengthening its commitment to student success through expanded digital access. The eduroam wireless network is available at all participating academic institutions, across over 100 countries, including UCR (University of California, Riverside).
eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions.
“This milestone expands RCCD IT’s network infrastructure beyond campus boundaries, allowing students, faculty, and staff to securely connect to Wi-Fi at thousands of participating institutions around the world using their existing RCCD credentials,” said Susanne Ma, Director of IT Infrastrcture and Systems. In an increasingly connected academic landscape, this positions RCCD alongside leading colleges and universities that prioritize seamless, secure, and accessible Internet connection for their communities.
For RCCD students, this advancement directly supports equity in access. “Whether traveling for academic competitions, visiting CSU and UC campuses for transfer events, study abroad programs,, or simply studying off-site, students can rely on consistent internet connectivity without barriers,” said Christopher Blackmore, Associate Vice Chancellor of Information Technology and Learning Services. By removing the need for guest logins or limited public networks, eduroam ensures that learning is not confined to our campuses, but instead follows students wherever their educational journey takes them.
This achievement also reflects RCCD’s broader commitment to innovation and forward-thinking solutions that enhance the student experience. While IT accomplishments are often behind the scenes, this initiative is a visible and impactful example of how technology can expand opportunity, support social mobility, and reinforce RCCD’s role as a globally connected institution dedicated to access, equity, and success.
