Riverside Community College District students marked an exciting milestone as they moved into student housing at the University of California, Riverside, for the second year of the RCCD-UCR housing partnership.

Over 188 Students from Moreno Valley College, Norco College and Riverside City College, along with their families, arrived at UCR to settle into their new living spaces and prepare for the 2026-27 academic year. The second annual Move-In Day builds upon the partnership's inaugural year and represents RCCD's continued commitment to addressing students' basic needs and expanding access to the full college experience. The success of the program was evident, with 56 students choosing to return for a second year.

Through the Residential Scholars program, eligible RCCD students have the opportunity to live in UCR student housing while continuing their education at one of the District's three colleges. The partnership provides students with more than a place to live; it offers an opportunity to experience residential college life, build community and remain connected to resources that support their academic and personal success.

“Welcoming our second cohort of Residential Scholars is an exciting moment for our students and for this partnership,” said Esveiri Conchas, Manager, Residential Student Housing Program. “Move-In Day represents a new beginning and an opportunity for students to build community while continuing to pursue their educational goals. We are proud to work together across our District and with UCR to provide an experience that supports students both inside and outside the classroom.”

The partnership between RCCD and UCR was created to help address housing insecurity, one of the many basic-needs challenges that can affect a student's ability to remain enrolled and successfully complete their education. By expanding access to stable and affordable housing, RCCD continues to identify innovative ways to remove barriers and create pathways for student success.

The second Move-In Day also marks an important step in the continued growth of the partnership. Building on lessons and experiences from the program's first year, RCCD and UCR continue working together to strengthen the Residential Scholars experience and ensure students have the support and resources they need throughout the academic year.

As students unpacked, met their fellow residents and prepared for the fall semester, Move-In Day reflected the collaborative effort of RCCD, its three colleges and UCR to create opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

RCCD looks forward to supporting its Residential Scholars throughout the 2026-27 academic year and continuing to strengthen a partnership focused on access, belonging and student success.
