Altura Credit Union: A Strong Partner in Advancing RCCD and Student Success
03/13/2025

For over 20 years, Altura Credit Union has been a vital partner of the Riverside Community College District (RCCD), prioritizing student achievement and community development. Since its first charitable contribution in 1998 to the RCC Passport to College program, Altura has donated $365,775 to RCCD, funding scholarships, athletic programs, and entrepreneurial initiatives that help students realize their full potential.
In its most recent three-year pledge agreement, Altura committed $135,000 to support key RCCD initiatives, including Veteran Services, RCC Athletics, the RCCD Young Entrepreneurs Program, and the RCCD Foundation. This continued support reflects Altura’s commitment to strengthening education and creating opportunities for students across the district.
“Altura Credit Union has been an invaluable ally in our mission to provide high-quality education and essential resources to our students,” said RCCD Foundation Executive Director Jeffry Kaatz. “Their contributions have been pivotal in enhancing our programs and helping students excel academically and professionally.”
The pledge, which runs from January 2023 to January 2025, supports the following key programs:
-
-
- Veteran Services: Offering vital support to veteran students at Moreno Valley College, Norco College, and Riverside City College, ensuring they transition successfully into academic life.
- RCC Athletics: Sponsoring the T.I.G.E.R.S. program and serving as the title sponsor for the Tiger Backer Golf Tournament, which sustains RCC’s athletic programs.
- RCCD Young Entrepreneurs Program: Fostering innovation and business skills among students aspiring to start their own businesses.
- RCCD Foundation: Supporting unrestricted funds that allow the district to address shifting needs and emerging opportunities.
-
In addition to financial contributions, Altura Credit Union has provided valuable opportunities to enhance students' financial literacy. Through workshops, career fairs, and campus events, students have gained essential financial skills, including opening their first checking and savings accounts.
“Altura’s investment in education is an investment in the future of our entire community,” Kaatz said. “By supporting RCCD, they are contributing to the economic vitality of our region.”
As this pledge nears its conclusion, RCCD looks forward to continuing its fruitful partnership with Altura Credit Union. With a shared focus on student success and community development, this collaboration remains a driving force in shaping the future of higher education in the Inland Empire.
