Information Security and Cyber Defense Program Validated by US National Security Agency
02/25/2022
Riverside City College's Information Security and Cyber Defense program has achieved CAE-CD validation from the National Science Agency (NSA) and Department Homeland Security (DHS).
The validation confirms that the program curriculum meets the standards put forth by the NSA and Department of Defense in articulating effective Cybersecurity education. It further solidifies that the coursework within the program aligns with and meets criteria related to knowledge units developed as part of the US government's focus areas.
The NSA evaluates and accredits institutions that offer cyber security degrees and curricula. CAE-CD validation is a rigorous and prestigious process performed by security experts and other institutions.
“I am extremely excited about achieving this validation for our program," said Skip Berry, associate professor Computer Information Systems - Cybersecurity. “This sets our program apart and allows employers to know that our students are completing a quality program."
Students completing the program enter a high-demand field, knowing that they completed requirements for the CAE-CD program of study. Doing so, further improves their career opportunities.
“We are so grateful for support from our administration and our business partners and Business and Industry Leadership Team in helping to achieve this recognition," Berry said. “CAE-CD validation also provides program directors the opportunity to improve business partnerships and student recruitment."
Students who graduate in June of 2022 can obtain a certificate for completing the CAE-CD Program of Study. The program's validation will run through June of 2027 and can be renewed.
