Civic engagement at RCC is thriving. Faculty and staff from throughout the College encouraged students to participate in November's general election. Student leaders in ASRCC and clubs also participated enthusiastically in registration and Get Out the Vote projects.
In the California University and College Ballot Bowl competition, RCC placed first for the community college with the highest percentage of students registering to vote, nearly 1,000.
ASRCC encouraged their peers to register to vote through Instagram, videos, and participated
in a town hall with Secretary of State Alex Padilla. The Political Science Students
Association also produced Get Out the Vote flyers and conducted discussions about
the candidates welcoming student perspectives.
"We all advertised voting every day and talked about it everywhere," Stefany Moctezuma,
ASRCC president and PSSA club member said.
