RCCD Supports Undocumented Students with Action Week Resolution
10/16/2019
Riverside Community College District (RCCD) Board of Trustees passed a resolution in support of Undocumented Students Action Week. RCCD Colleges — Riverside, Norco and Moreno Valley — join community colleges across the state for Undocumented Student Action Week, taking place October 14-18, and every third week in October thereafter, to advocate and provide support services for undocumented students. The RCCD Board of Trustees and its colleges pledged their continued commitment to serving all individuals who wish to enhance their lives through attaining an education.
“The RCCD Board of Trustees affirms that all students should have an opportunity to receive an education regardless of immigration status," Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D., chancellor, said. “Our colleges remain welcoming spaces for people of all backgrounds to learn."
Undocumented Student Action Week serves as an opportunity to highlight the challenges undocumented students face in today's climate, while advocating for Congress to take immediate legislative action on important federal policies and providing resources to better assist undocumented students in the state of California. Undocumented Student Action Week is supported statewide by California Community Colleges, the Foundation for California Community Colleges, the Community College League of California, the Student Senate for California Community Colleges, and Immigrants Rising.
A series of events and webinars for students are taking place throughout the three colleges in an effort to offer support and resources.
