RCCD Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week 2024

RCCD Expands Regional Apprenticeship Opportunities to Build Career Pathways

Riverside Community College District (RCCD), in collaboration with its three colleges—Moreno Valley College, Norco College, and Riverside City College—proudly announces its participation in the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) Inland Empire Apprenticeship Expo from November 17-23, 2024. This year’s theme, “National Apprenticeship Week 2024: Celebrating 10 Years of Engagement, Expansion, and Innovation,” highlights the growing impact of apprenticeship programs across the country.

RCCD continues to play a pivotal role in building and scaling apprenticeship programs in the Inland Empire region. As part of NAW, RCCD will participate in a large-scale apprenticeship event on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in partnership with the City of Moreno Valley and Moreno Valley College. The event will be held at the City of Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center (CRC), located at 14075 Frederick Street, Moreno Valley, CA 92553.

RCCD Workforce and Economic Development and Apprenticeship staff will facilitate an informational booth featuring flyers and resources about apprenticeship opportunities across its three colleges. In partnership with the LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network, which serves as the regional sponsor for apprenticeship programs throughout the Inland Empire Desert Region, RCCD will showcase its efforts to connect students and employers through apprenticeship programs designed to meet the needs of local industries.

Event Highlights:

Tuesday, November 19, 2024:

        • Morning Session: Approximately 600 high school students will attend to explore apprenticeship opportunities and understand how these programs can help shape their future careers.
        • Afternoon Session: Open to the public, providing community members with information on how apprenticeships can support their career advancement.

Thursday, November 21, 2024:

        • Women in the Trades Webinar and Success Panel: Hosted by Moreno Valley College and the City of Moreno Valley, this event will feature stories of college apprentices gaining valuable experience through RCCD’s apprenticeship programs, blending on-the-job training with classroom instruction.

“We are excited to engage with students, employers, and community members during National Apprenticeship Week and highlight the critical role apprenticeships play in bridging the skills gap in the region,” said Jason Kennedy, Director of Workforce and Economic Development Projects. “Apprenticeships offer a dynamic path to gainful employment, and RCCD remains committed to expanding these opportunities for the Inland Empire’s diverse workforce.”
