In November 2024, voters living in the communities served by the Riverside Community College District (RCCD) passed Measure CC, a 954-million-dollar bond initiative. The election results were certified by the state on December 13, 2024, with more than 58 percent of the vote in favor of the measure. Now the District will have the requested funds to maintain and grow RCCD and its colleges to meet the increasing higher education needs of one of the fastest growing regions in the state.

In an email message sent to RCCD personnel following the November election, Chancellor Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D., reviewed the benefits of passing Measure CC. He wrote, “The District and its colleges will be able to complete crucial facility and equipment upgrades, construct new buildings, provide enhancements to security and technology, and facilitate the expansion of skilled training offerings.”

The funding that results from the issuance of these bonds will be used to help the District renovate and build more facilities at Moreno Valley College, Norco College, and Riverside City College. The funds will also support the construction of new facilities in Corona and Jurupa Valley. At the Corona Center, the District will be building a new extension of Norco College, and in Jurupa Valley, the Inland Empire Technical Trade Center will be built to support career and technical education throughout the Inland Empire.

During a holiday reception in December, the Chancellor expressed his excitement and appreciation to supporters of Measure CC. He included the mayors and city councils of Corona, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, Norco, Perris, and Riverside; the state and federal legislators that serve our region; the leadership of local school districts, religious and civic organizations, chambers of commerce, businesses, and labor unions. The Chancellor also acknowledged and thanked the students, faculty, classified professionals, management, and trustees of the District, and he extended his thanks and congratulations to the voters who supported the measure. He observed, “Your votes signal your commitment to future generations and the economic vitality of the Inland Empire.”

Chancellor Isaac further observed, “This investment in RCCD will pay huge dividends toward the economic vitality of this region. We will have a more educated workforce that is prepared for the growth and opportunities that are coming. More people, from the diverse populations living in this area, will have access to a higher education than ever before - ensuring social justice and equity - and facilitating the emergence from poverty to prosperity for those who have traditionally been disadvantaged.”

More information about Measure CC and a list of District and college projects that will be funded are available on the District’s website.
