RCC Professor Presents at Renowned Rochester Institute of Technology

Will Kim, Professor of Art and Director of Visual Arts at Riverside City College (RCC), was recently invited to deliver a guest lecture at the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). On October 9, 2024, Kim virtually presented "Animating Humanity: Telling Stories of Lives, Rights, and Mental States Through the Art of Animation" to RIT’s Film and Animation students, offering insights drawn from his professional experience at RCC and his extensive work as an animator.
In his lecture, Kim examined the role of animation as a powerful medium for addressing human rights, emotional states, and societal issues. He shared his own artistic journey, highlighting works that have been featured in over 100 international film festivals, including the Directors Guild of America Theater, the Centre Pompidou, and San Diego Comic-Con. His work has also been broadcast on platforms such as SBS, PBS, and Apple TV.
At RCC, Kim directs the RCC Animation Showcase and is an active leader, serving as an Academic Senator, and Co-Advisor to the Asian Pacific Student Union. He holds an MFA in Animation from UCLA and a BFA in Character Animation from CalArts. His contributions to the animation field have garnered recognition at leading institutions such as the Getty Center and the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego.
