RCCD Receives Apprenticeship Ambassador Certificate of Recognition from U.S. Department of Labor

The Riverside Community College District (RCCD) proudly announces that it has been awarded the prestigious Apprenticeship Ambassador Certificate of Recognition from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). This distinction highlights RCCD's dedication to modernizing, diversifying, and expanding registered apprenticeship programs, contributing to the success of American workers, employers, and communities nationwide.

As an Apprenticeship Ambassador, RCCD joins a national network of community organizations, educational institutions, industry leaders, and workforce partners. The initiative aims to promote the benefits of registered apprenticeships and create inclusive pathways into high-demand industries for underrepresented groups, including women, people of color, youth, and rural communities.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Department of Labor,” said Jason Kennedy, Director of Workforce and Economic Development, at RCCD. “Through our commitment to workforce development and innovative apprenticeships, RCCD plays a vital role in preparing students for sustainable careers while fostering equity and opportunity.”

Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiative Goals

The DOL’s Apprenticeship Ambassador program seeks to:

      • Expand awareness of registered apprenticeships among employers, educators, and job seekers.
      • Foster new partnerships and best practices to modernize apprenticeship programs.
      • Increase access for underrepresented populations, including justice-involved individuals and those with disabilities.
      • Support pre-apprenticeships, youth apprenticeships, and degree apprenticeships that bridge academic and career pathways.

RCCD's Commitment to Workforce Development

As part of its ambassador role, RCCD will:

      • Develop new apprenticeship opportunities across high-demand sectors.
      • Enhance recruitment of diverse talent from local communities.
      • Collaborate with workforce partners to deliver hands-on learning experiences and technical instruction.
      • Promote the business case for apprenticeships as a viable workforce strategy across industries.

Participation in this initiative aligns with RCCD’s ongoing efforts to empower students, strengthen regional economies, and support lifelong learning through partnerships with industry and community organizations.
