RCCD Students Celebrate Recognition at Western Municipal Water District Event
04/23/2025

The Western Municipal Water District—Arts & Grant Reception, which took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, honored two outstanding students from Riverside City College (RCC) and Norco College. These students were recognized for their academic excellence and commitment to their studies.
Alvaro Sanchez, a Business Administration Management Concentration Alumni from Norco College, was also celebrated at the event. Alvaro, who has since transferred to Cal Poly Pomona to continue his academic journey, was acknowledged for his dedication to his field of study and his academic achievements.
From Riverside City College, Esmeralda Montes De Oca, a student pursuing a degree in Sustainability in Economics and Society, was also recognized for her exceptional academic performance. Esmeralda’s work in sustainability demonstrates RCC’s commitment to fostering students who are equipped to lead in fields critical to the future of our planet.
The event also marked an important milestone in RCCD's partnership with the Western Municipal Water District (WMWD). In October 2024, WMWD generously contributed an additional $10,000 to the WMWD Endowed Scholarship Fund, further strengthening RCCD’s scholarship programs. This contribution brings RCCD’s endowed scholarships in line with those of top institutions, such as CSUSD, UCR, Cal Baptist, UCI, and other esteemed colleges and universities.
Each year, WMWD invites scholarship recipients from both Norco College and Riverside City College to be recognized at this prestigious event, providing them with an opportunity to engage with the community and showcase their academic achievements.
These events, alongside the ongoing contributions from WMWD, demonstrate the power of community partnerships and their direct impact on student success across RCCD. It is clear that RCCD continues to foster an environment where students thrive, supported by collaborations that enhance their educational experience and future prospects.
The RCCD community remains committed to providing students with opportunities for growth, engagement, and success, as demonstrated by the recognition of these exceptional students.
