Sharon Alexander Honored as RCCD Alumnus of the Year

The Riverside Community College District (RCCD) proudly announces Sharon Alexander, a distinguished graduate of Riverside City College (RCC), as the 2024 RCCD Alumnus of the Year. Recognized for her remarkable contributions to nursing education and community health, Alexander exemplifies the values of excellence and service upheld by RCCD.
A 1981 graduate of RCC’s Associate Degree in Nursing program, Alexander has dedicated her career to improving healthcare in the Inland Empire. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and then served as a registered nurse specializing in critical care and later as the Director of Education at Parkview Community Hospital.
Now a full-time faculty member at RCC expected to retire at the end of Fall 2024, Alexander mentors future nurses and serves as a clinical expert in medical-surgical nursing. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom, with a decade of transformative work at the Riverside Free Clinic, where she provides care for underserved communities and guides RCC nursing students in clinical practice. Alexander’s commitment to mentoring alumni and fostering collaboration between RCCD colleges further underscores her lasting impact on the district.
“Sharon Alexander’s achievements and dedication to education and community service are inspiring,” said RCCD Chancellor Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D. “She represents the very best of what RCCD alumni can accomplish.”
