Laura Ramirez currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent and Vice President of Instruction at Pasadena City College. She earned her Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Community College Leadership and holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from California State University, Fullerton, along with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from UCLA.

A proud community college alumna of East Los Angeles College, Laura’s educational journey began close to home, where she completed her associate in science degree in mathematics. Growing up in East Los Angeles, she developed a deep appreciation for the transformative power of community colleges—a passion that continues to drive her work today.

Before joining the community college system, Laura taught and later became Department Chair at Don Bosco Technical Institute in the San Gabriel Valley. Her community college career began as a chemistry instructor at ELAC and has since evolved through a series of leadership roles, including Dean of Instruction, Dean of Career and Technical Education, Vice President of Workforce Education and Economic Development, and Vice President of Instruction at ELAC. Thereafter, she transitioned to Rio Hondo College (RHC) to serve as Assistant Superintendent, Vice President of Instruction. At RHC, she led efforts in support of Guided Pathways and developing success teams to advance student success.

Throughout her career, Laura has been dedicated to creating programs that open doors for students—helping them transfer to four-year universities, succeed in STEM, and enter meaningful careers. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to student success, workforce development, and equity in education
