Tr​ainin​​g Courses

​​DE offers the following training courses and modules for faculty. These courses & modules are self-enroll and self-paced.​ Faculty can earn badges (coming soon) to use for FLEX credit.

Course Design Camp (optional)

This Course Design Camp is self-enroll, self-paced, multiple module course which incorporates equity consideration into course development, course design, and course facilitation. The final module provides faculty with the opportunity to demonstrate competency by creating/revising 4-weeks of course content. This content will be reviewed, and feedback for alignment will be offered as needed. Completion of the course meets the Online Teaching Certification requirement.

  • Complensation: All faculty will earn a completion badge.
    • Full-time faculty can be submit the badge as evidence to FLEXtrack for 16 hours of FLEX credit: 16 generic hours or 12 generics/4 equity.
    • When part-time faculty complete Camp, District DE will automatically report thier completion directly to Payroll, so that the $750 MOU complensation can be applied to their paycheck.
  • Camp Live Support: From August 19th through December 6th, Camp Facilitators will be available on the following days/times to answer your questions.
    • Mondays: 9-11 am & 4-7 pm
    • Tuesdays: 12-2 pm
    • Thursdays: 4-7 pm

RSI Interaction Learning Modules (optional)

The RSI Interaction Learning Modules provide information on Regular and Substantive Interactions, how to use Canvas tools to increase the interactions in your course(s), and RSI examples faculty have shared from their courses. At this time, all faculty can self-enroll to access the information in these learning modules. 

Online Canvas Academy Course (optional)

RCCD's Online Canvas Academy (OCA) trains faculty in Canvas basics including Modules, Pages, Discussions, Assignments, Quizzes, and other tools. All faculty are welcome to self-enroll in the 4-module course to learn or review these Canvas skills.

Teaching with OER and Open Pedagogy for Equity

  • Explore why and how to integrate Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Pedagogy in your course, as a way to support equity-minded and culturally responsive teaching.
  • This pedagogy focused course will benefit teaching faculty and those supporting innovation in teaching (e.g., instructional designers and teaching and learning center staff).

Navigating the Future: Open Education with Generative AI

  • Explore the intersections of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Open Educational Resources (OER), and Open Pedagogy, including practical, ethical, and licensing considerations.
  • This exploratory course should benefit anyone involved in creating, discovering, or re-mixing OER.
