The Riverside Community College District’s, The Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties partnered with RCC's Music Department in the Coil School of the Arts and set the stage for a vibrant and well-attended Lunchtime Jazz Concert Series, bringing together students, employees, and community members for an engaging midday experience. Held throughout March and early April, the series created a welcoming space where music, culture, and community intersected.

Featuring performances by RCC student jazz combos, the concerts transformed the Center into a lively hub of creativity and connection. Attendees gathered during the lunch hour to enjoy live music, many returning week after week, highlighting the strong interest and growing momentum of the series.

“This series is a beautiful example of how art can bring people together in meaningful ways,” said Tracy Fisher, Ph.D., Director of The Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties. “It created space not only for our talented students to shine, but for our community to connect, reflect, and experience joy within the Center.”

More than a musical event, Lunchtime Jazz reinforced the Center’s role as a space for inclusion, expression, and dialogue. By pairing artistic performance with a mission-driven environment, the series reflected RCCD’s ongoing commitment to fostering belonging and creating meaningful, shared experiences across its campuses and surrounding community.

Due to its continued success and strong community engagement, the Lunchtime Jazz Series is expected to return next April.
