Workplace Violence

The Riverside Community College District is committed to providing a safe and welcoming working environment for all staff members. This incident reporting form is designed to provide members of the Riverside Community College District community with an on-line method to report alleged incidents of workplace violence. Workplace violence means any behavior that raises concerns for the safety of another person's life, health, well-being, family or property, whether direct or indirect.

Workplace violence, includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • The threat or use of physical force against an employee that results in, or has a high likelihood of resulting in, injury, psychological trauma, or stress, regardless of whether the employee sustains an injury.
  • An incident involving a threat or use of a firearm or other dangerous weapon, including the use of common objects as weapons, regardless of whether the employee sustains an injury. 

What are the 4 types of workplace violence?

  • Type 1 - Violence committed by a person who has no legitimate business at the workplace
  • Type 2 - Violence committed by a customer, client, student, inmate or visitor
  • Type 3 - Violence committed by a present or former employee, supervisor, or manager
  • Type 4 - Violence committed by a nonworker with a personal relationship with an employee

Where can I access training?

Training is available through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office Vision Resource Center.

How can I report workplace violence?

Reports can be made through a Workplace Violence Incident Report Form, by contacting your immediate supervisor, or contacting the RCCD Police Department at 951-222-8171.
