The Riverside Community College District (RCCD) Safety and Police Department is a
POST certified agency that complies with all California state standards for recruitment
and training, per California Penal Code Section 13522.
Pursuant to Section 830.32a of the Penal Code and 72330 of the Education Code, our
law enforcement authority on or about the campus is identical to that of municipal
and county law enforcement officers. As such, the RCCD Safety and Police Department
is responsible for reporting and investigating all criminal matters on properties
owned and operated by the District.
- Our mission is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students,
faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Our law enforcement methods fit within and contribute to the educational philosophy
of the District.
- Our goal is to strive to be one of the most professional college law enforcement agencies
in the State of California, and continue to assist our District in its mission to
provide higher education to our community.
The RCCD Safety and Police Department employs 22 full-time sworn police personnel,
Reserve Officers, 24 Community Service Aides, and six non-sworn clerical staff. Our
civilian clerical staff includes an Administrative Supervisor, Parking Services Supervisor,
Administrative Assistant, Parking Clerk, Records Clerk, and Background Investigator.
The department provides law enforcement services to our three colleges (Moreno Valley,
Norco, Riverside), District offices as well as several offsite education centers.
Community Service Aides perform regular, non-emergency duties including: parking enforcement,
traffic control, monitoring of RCCD functions and special events; public escorts;
securing parking lots and buildings; and special assignments.
We have Memorandums of Understanding with the Riverside Police Department and Riverside
County Sheriff's Department, which provide the department with assistance for incidents
requiring specialized resources and expertise.
