AB 481

What is AB 481?

California Assembly Bill (AB) 481 requires California law enforcement agencies to obtain approval from their governing body before taking certain actions related to the funding, acquisition, or use of military equipment as defined by the legislature.

Governing Body

The Riverside Community College District is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees, each elected to four-year terms by voters in the district, which serves western Riverside County. In addition, a student trustee is elected annually by Riverside Community College District students to serve a one-year term.

Process

The Riverside Community College District Police Department is required to submit an annual report to the Board of Trustees. Pursuant to California Assembly Bill 481, the Board will review and vote on whether to renew the district’s resolution authorizing the funding, acquisition, and use of military equipment.
